Description
The first, best one-size cloth diaper.
Flat diapers are a single layer of fabric with an open, birdseye weave that exposes more fibers and makes this fabric the most absorbent weave of any cotton diaper.
These are the old fashioned cloth diapers our great grandparents used, though we’ve added the twist of making them organic diapers in beautiful, dreamy colors.
No rough edges! We worked with our manufacturer to create a finished edge (turned and stitched). Two edges of the diaper are finished, and the two selvage edges are smooth. More comfortable for your baby.

How to Use Cloth Diapers
Because cloth diaper flats are big square of single layer fabric, you need to fold them.
Fold into quarters then again into thirds for a perfect sized cloth diaper insert.
Fancy folds put more absorbency where your baby needs it and create a pocket to catch any mess. There are dozens of great flat fold demonstration videos by helpful cloth diaper bloggers. A quick search, and you will be ready to build your expertise.
Most flat folds require either diaper pins or a fastener. We like diaper pins because they are reliable, they work forever, and they aren’t made of plastic.
For more absorbency, fold two diapers together for nighttime, heavy wetters, or toddlers.
Washing Flat Diapers
Wash on hot with your normal detergent. Flat diapers are so simple that you don’t need any confusing, special cloth diaper washing instructions. It’s cotton. It’s tough, and it can stand up to whatever you give it.
Easier to clean and care for than any other cloth diapers. So easy, you can handwash these diapers with no worries about whether your diapers are hygienically clean.
If you don’t have a washing machine, you can handwash flat diapers more easily than any other diapers. A 5-gallon bucket can be your cloth diaper washing bucket.
Dry on the line or in your dryer. Because flat diapers are only one layer, they dry quickly. Dry faster than prefold cloth diapers.

My mother-in-law still uses decades old diapers like these to strain her preserves every year. You might not want to go that far with your used diapers, but they are tough enough that you can if you need to.
Our children used these colorful diapers as play cloths—as water, sky, and mountains for their toys, as hats and wings for dress up, as decorations. We even use colorful play cloths and flat diapers as reusable gift wrapping.
