As a member of Random Eclipse, we occasionally auctioned special items following a theme with many other makers. We’ve also made special items for nonprofits, for auctions or awards.
Though we strayed from diapers with greeting cards, hats, and a coat, we always stuck with wool. Even the magpies on the greeting cards have collected wool scraps from wool diaper covers. Always wool.
My favorite special item for Random Eclipse was a child’s Polar Bear coat made from organic wool for the bear’s fur (outside), batik cotton for the northern lights (inside), and synthetic blue fur to keep the child warm and fuzzy(trim). The theme was “hidden things,” so I hid two bears and some fish in the pockets outside and inside the coat.
